Join PFI at Luna Valley Farm with farmers and artisan pizza makers Tom and Maren Beard for pizza and a screening of our award-winning film, Livestock on the Land. Bring your lawn chairs, but not beverages – they have a number of local beers, ciders and sodas on tap for sale.
Pizza
If you’re interested in pizza, read up on their pizza nights. They serve some of the best wood-fired pizza found anywhere, and it’s full of local ingredients from their farm and the farms of other PFI members. Pizza is served from 4 – 8 p.m. but reservations are required.
Tom & Maren start taking reservations at noon on Sunday, August 7 and they sell out quick, so be ready to order. To make a reservation and order your pizzas, go to their website, select a time and which pizzas you want.
The Film
The screening will start shortly after dark, right around 8:30, depending on the light. It’s a little under an hour and a half long, so expect to finish up by 10 or so.
Since being released at our conference in 2021, Livestock on the Land has been selected and won awards at film festivals across Iowa and the Midwest. The film is a story about regenerative grazing and its promise for the Iowa landscape. Up close, however, it’s a story about people (including Tom & Maren!) – the farmers driven by love of family, land and livestock to seek more resilient solutions, and the community that emerges when livestock are on the land.
Meal Information: Luna Valley Farm serves wood-fired pizza throughout the evening but requires reservations ahead of time. They start taking reservations for Friday, August 12th on Sunday, August 7th at Noon. If you want pizza, your best bet is to go to their website and make a reservation at noon on August 7th!
